Now that's a series a brewing.

If you were to stencil this photo on the side of a building without asking the building owner do you think Banksy would approve?

Dude we should really talk sometime.

Now that I think about it that Banksy quote could be taken several ways. Don't listen to me. I don't know shit. Thanks for sharing. I need to come up with some new stuff to post today. peace...

I don't think that graffiti art must, necessarily, involve the defamation of private property in order to be effective -- what if the artist selects a space that is abandoned or decaying? What if the stencil is placed on the side of a garbage bin which had no aestic value to begin with? What if the act of the graffiti artist is one that truly enhances the appearance of the space, adds color where there was only grey?

I know this raises the question of what is ideal as opposed to what is real, but take music -- you may not like a particular type of music, be it brit pop or hip hop, country or classical, but there will always be someone working sucessfully in the medium who transcends the stereotypes of the form. That is the true artist. Whether his name is ever recognized as much as those of the poseurs who have been embraced by the industry (which almost always caters to the least common denominator) is inconsequential. The art is made for art's sake alone.
